Head to Open Mikes 7 p.m. Saturday and put your money to good use. It’s the “Nikki” Album Release Party & Charity Show, featuring West Melbourne singer/songwriter “SJ.” Funds raised will help a truly wonderful local charity known as Street to Home Movement, which is dedicated to ending street homelessness.

A bit about SJ: He’s opened for big acts including Ed Sheeran and Pentatonix; his single “Let Me Be” was picked up by radio throughout the U.S. and hit #32 which is pretty impressive for an independent artist; he’s received more than two dozen independent music awards in U.S. and the U.K; got recognized by SiriusXM as “The Coffeehouse Discovery of the Year” and Hollywood Music Media Award for “Best Folk/Acoustic Emerging Artist.” He’s married to a woman named Nikki (the new album must be pretty romantic) and they have two children, ages 3 years and six months.

Also, SJ created “One Acoustic World” which aims to gather great musicians to support charitable causes through benefit concerts. The first concert was held in 2016 with funds going to the South Brevard Sharing Center.

The Street to Home Movement is run by Keith and Keri Donald, two of Brevard’s most amazing philanthropists. A smart organization, it has had great success in helping the homeless.

Tickets to Saturday’s concert cost $20. Doors open at 7 p.m. Open Mike’s is at 454 N. Harbour City Blvd., Melbourne, (321) 254-3792. For more information or to get tickets, click here.
