A CHRISTMAS STORY: THE MUSICAL opens this weekend and runs through Dec. 2 at Cocoa Village Playhouse. Look for a review soon in Brevard Culture. Production assistant Jason Crase said “Patrons will be enchanted by the charming cast of both adults and children and by the beautiful, homey set design by Joseph Lark Riley.” The photos sure suggest that. BOOM runs through Dec. 9 at Theater on the Edge in Orlando. This contemporary dark comedy concerns a sexy romp in a subterranean research lab which might be a source of survival when the threat of global annihilation pops up. DEREK GORES: LOCAL EDITION a retrospective of work by Brevard’s popular, award winning and internationally acclaimed artist Derek Gores, opens Saturday and runs through March 23 at Florida Tech’s Foosaner Art Museum. Look for a story soon in Brevard Culture. But in the meantime, this is gonna be the big boy on the cultural block this season.

WANDERING SPIRIT: AFRICAN WAX PRINTS runs through Dec. 15 at Florida Institute of Technology’s Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts. It is a tribute to the century-old handmade designs and patterns on textiles that originated in Indonesia and were copied and industrialized by Europeans and exported to West Africa.
