By PAM HARBAUGH

I’m hoping to convince all y’all to hit the road and come to Orlando to experience drama in a 30-seat theater and see GIDION’S KNOT, which opens tonight at Theater on the Edge. Read more about it below.

Theater:

GIDION’S KNOT opens tonight and runs through July 8 at Theater on the Edge in Orlando. This is a startling long one-act written by Johnna Adams, who received an ATCA/Steinberg award for it. Its first professional production was at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival and has since enjoyed a multitude of productions around the country. I am humbled to be directing the production at Theater on the Edge and thrilled to have worked with two powerful Meisner-trained actors — Kyrstal Glover and Natalie Bulajic. The setting is a fifth grade classroom and the action starts when a mother visits the teacher who suspended her son for something he wrote. A mystery quickly unfolds. The play is muscular enough to hold many themes, including censorship, responsibility, honesty, cowardice, bullying and more. Although set in a classroom, this play is intended for adults, so leave the children home. Tickets are $18 to $26. Theater on the Edge is at 5542 Hansel Avenue, Orlando, FL.
