Three area theaters are holding auditions beginning this weekend. Read on and see if something tickles the actor inside.
TITUSVILLE PLAYHOUSE will be auditioning for two shows in the next few days.
NEWSIES: Auditions are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, June 4 and 5. Director Steven Heron is looking to audition performers age 10 and older for this musical. It is scheduled to run Aug. 17 to Sept. 9, 2018.
HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH: Auditions for this adult play with music will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7. This is an R-rated adult show and actors must be 18 years and older to audition. There will NOT be auditions for musicians. Actors who audition for “Newsies” may hang around and audition immediately after the “Newsies” auditions. “Hedwig” is scheduled to run as a special mainstage event Nov. 2 to 11. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Hedwig/Hanschel: East German rock singer and front woman of The Angry Inch. Formerly Hansel, a slip of a girly boy who grew up in communist East Berlin, fell in love with an American GI – became Hedwig and underwent a botched sex change operation in order to marry and move to the states. Glamorous, charismatic and always commanding even when at her most bitchy or vulnerable. Has had high highs and low lows. Vocal Range: A2-B4
Yitzhak: Hedwig’s Croatian male husband and roadie/back-up singer. He is Hedwig’s vocal sparring partner- theirs is an emotional and at times abusive relationship. The actress playing Yitzhak should be believable as a butch male but one that chafes at the bonds of traditional masculinity and longs to explore his feminine, creative side. Vocal Range: D4-A5

SURFSIDE PLAYERS will hold auditions 7 p.m. June 10 and 11 for its summer melodrama, “TROUBLE IN TUMBLEWEED.” There is a cast of 20 in this show, including eight males and 12 females.
