Sensational GOLDEN DRAGONS at King Center

By PAM HARBAUGH

The King Center will bring the sensational performing group, the GOLDEN DRAGON ACROBATS to Melbourne at 7 p.m. March 28.

The Golden Dragon Acrobats practice a tradition that is more than 25 centuries old. The show includes bountiful production values and a sharp aesthetic with acrobatics, traditional dance, costumes, music and theatrical wizardry.

Interestingly, this time honored skill became important to the warming up of cultural exchange between East and West. The group won a 2006 Drama Desk Award for “Unique Theatrical Experience.”

According to the press release:

“When the Golden Dragon Acrobats come to town, the wonders stack up,” reviews The New York Times. “Cathedrals of contortionists in backbend rise before your eyes, body by body. Human obstacles, which tumblers flip over, widen in person-size increments. The thrill is escalation. These touring acrobats from China know how to keep topping themselves.”

Tickets start at $22 general and at $11 for children 12 years and younger.

The King Center is at 3865 N. Wickham Rd., Melbourne. Call 321-242-2214 or click here.
