HENEGAR GALA

By PAM HARBAUGH

Here’s a fun and entertaining and unusual way for you to show your support to the Henegar Center. It’s Saturday’s big gala, THROUGH THE YEARS WITH THE HENEGAR.

The event runs 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Melbourne at the American Muscle Car Museum, one Brevard’s hidden gems. Tickets are $100 with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Henegar.

What makes this doubly sweet is that this charitable event is probably the only way you’re going to get the opportunity to glimpse the 280 cars in this rare collection of philanthropist Mark Pieloch, the founder of The American Muscle Car Museum. Mr. Pieloch only opens his museum for charitable events.

Those automobiles includes 1950s-1970s American muscle cars to modern, sophisticated muscle cars (such as a 2017 Shelby GT350R). There are 88 first place national show winners and decades of Indy 500 pace cars and trucks, one of every color of Ford GTs ever made, and the most extensive collection of Yenkos in the world. Each car is original, maintained, driven and resides in a massive solar-powered museum.

In addition to viewing the massive collection, guests will enjoy photo-ops with costumed actors from the Henegar’s most celebrated productions. There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine and an auction of high end items.

One of those items being auctioned is a full day Seafarer Exploration for two aboard the 53-foot research vessel, the Iron Maiden. The full day includes getting up close with treasure archeologists, authors and a seasoned dive team while sailing to a dive site in search of the 1715 Spanish treasure shipwreck off Melbourne Beach.

The Gala, organized by the relatively newly formed Henegar Guild, runs 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the American Muscle Car Museum, 3500 Sarno Road, Melbourne, FL. $100. Call 321-723-2985.
