“DREAMGIRLS” Cocoa Village Playhouse will hold auditions 7 p.m. Monday, May 2 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 for “DREAMGIRLS.” The cast is primarily African American but also has roles for other ethnicities. Males and females 13 years and older. The show runs June 24 to July 3. Cocoa Village Playhouse is at 300 Brevard Ave., Cocoa. Call 321-636-5050 or visit CocoaVillagePlayhouse.com.

No other auditions in Brevard this month. But things will start heating up again in June. In the meantime, for those serious actors out there who want to make a living in acting, consider this:

FLORIDA STUDIO THEATRE, a wonderful professional theater, a member of LORT (League of Regional Theaters) based in Sarasota, Fla. It is seeking 9 quality non-Equity Acting Apprentices for the 2016-2017 Season, which runs Sept. 3, 2016 to May 25, 2017. Those accepted will receive practical and educational training in through classes, workshops, rehearsals, performances, running crews, etc. Interns can earn points in Actors Equity Membership Candidate Program. Apprentices earn a stipend of $75 per week plus free furnished housing.

As the FST website says: “The purpose of the Acting Apprentice program is to help bridge the gap between academic theatre and the professional world and to provide additional training and experience to those individuals who are serious about careers as professional actors.”
