You might want to take a nap before taking a look at this blog post. There’s just SO MUCH to do this weekend. Let’s start with a shameless plug for a production I’ve directed.

Theater:

VENUS IN FUR, a sexy, mind-bending mystery by David Ives, 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the intimate studio theater on the second floor of the Henegar Center. LONGFORM LAB SHOW with the Not Quite Right Players appears 8 p.m. Saturday in Derek Gores Gallery, 587 W. Eau Gallie Blvd., Melbourne. VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE is not to be missed at Riverside Theatre. It’s a black box production but it’s polished enough for the professional theater’s mainstage. MOTHERS AND SONS runs through Sunday at Titusville Playhouse’s 2nd Stage. The Terrence McNally play in part about society’s change in attitude regarding homosexuality and marriage equality. In it, a woman visits her late son’s partner who is now married to another man. Titusville Playhouse’s 2nd Stage is a 42-seat black box theater just down the block from TPI’s mainstage theater at 301 Julia St., Titusville. Tickets are $15. MELBOURNE CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY presents the Brentano String Quartet in performance with pianist Thomas Sauer at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Really…just do it…go to the concert. BREVARD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA performs “Pops! I Love a Piano” 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday at the King Center for the Performing Arts, 3865 N. Wickham Rd., Melbourne. The concert features pianist Rich Ridenour. As Maestro Christopher Confessore writes: “(Rich Ridenour is) a true showman – his ‘I Love a Piano’ program is sure to be a hit with everyone. Rich established his career performing his own musical arrangements of classical masterworks and today’s popular piano favorites. Along with Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, he pays tribute to legendary pianists Liberace, Billy Joel, Victor Borge, and Rachmaninoff!” Tickets range from $25 to $50. REIMAGINED: INNOVATIONS IN FIBER ART by Alex Trimino and Carrie Sieh runs through May 7 at the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts. This is a vivid, fun, engaging exhibit filled with color and, as the title suggests — imagination. More on this in Brevard Culture next week. In the meantime, you may want to head over to the campus of Florida Tech, scout around for the Botanical Garden entrance where adjacent you will find the entrance to the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts. This is a real treat. Free admission. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. Florida Tech is at 150 W. University Blvd., Melbourne.
