Gabby Links: Cultural Amuse Bouches July 10, 2015

By PAM HARBAUGH

A SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE?

Did you hear about this? A 19-year old lacrosse player from Long Island made his annual journey to see a live play. This time, it was “Hand to God,” the play with the (shudder) puppets.

The young man had apparently been besieged happily by numerous calls from young ladies so he wanted to keep his cell phone charged. Hence the reason behind actually climbing onto the stage and plugging his phone into a fake electric socket designed in the scenery.

Yes. I know, you don’t believe me. No one could be that crass. But seriously, what did you expect. First the “Wooo!” simply ev-er-y-where and now, this. Here, take a look for yourself:

SERIOUSLY FUNNY:

If you’re looking for something fun this weekend, then by all means DO consider the Comedy Zone at Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach. It features very funny stand-up comedians, food, drink and pre-show live music outdoors.

This weekend, the featured comics are Shaun Jones and Tim “The Dairy Farmer.”

I went to this not that long ago and had a blast. I vowed to return, and I will. Tickets are $16 general and $18 for reserved seating, which is not a bad idea because this thing is so popular it fills up fast.

SIDE O’ GRITS: Riverside Theatre is at 3250 Riverside Drive, Vero Beach. Curtain is 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11. Live music begins 6:15 p.m. For a list of upcoming Comedy Zone shows, click here. Call 772-231-6990.
