Fifth Avenue Art Gallery: Mindy Colton

By PAM HARBAUGH

Sculptures by Mindy Colton explore the “Spirit of the Horse” in an exhibition at The Fifth Avenue Art Gallery.

Running through the end of the week, the exhibition captures the “magical attitude of these stately animals,” (source: gallery press release).

Ms. Colton is an award-winning Orlando artist who once lived in New York City where she attended the High School of Music & Art. Later, she studied at the Parson’s School of Design and the Art Students’ League in New York City. She had a successful career in graphic design and illustration; however, with fine art tugging at her heart, she put that into the rear view mirror and has made a name for herself in equine sculpture, paintings, photography and large outdoor art.

She has enjoyed many solo and two-artist shows and has won more than 100 awards in the more than 150 juried shows into which her art has been accepted, including the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival Invitational Sculpture exhibit and at the Atlantic Center for the Arts.

Her work has appeared in numerous museums and is in international private and public collections. Here is an uncropped photo of the work pictured above:
