Fathom Events and Picturehouse Entertainment are giving you quite the holiday event — the live capture London performance of Dame Judi Dench and Sir Kenneth Branagh in Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale.”
Plan for this right now — the performance will be screened 7:30 p.m. Monday (Nov. 30) at Carmike Avenue 16 in Viera. Tickets cost $15 plus handling fees.
The three-hour (approximate) production comes from the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company. And, it’s co-directed by Sir Kenneth and ROB ASHFORD, whom all of us in Brevard love because he’s a very nice man, extremely talented, a famed award winning Broadway director/choreographer, generous with his time and his parents live in Melbourne Village. (Do we need another reason?)
My guess this is not to be missed. Mr. Ashford and Sir Kenneth received huge acclaim for their powerful staging of “Macbeth” in London and the sold-out before it even happened production at the Park Avenue Armory in Manhattan.
Here’s a quick sound-bite from Fathom Events: “King Leontes appears to have everything: power, wealth, a loving family and friends. But sexual jealousy sets in motion a chain of events with tragic consequences.”
The production features Dame Judi as Paulina and Sir Kenneth as Leontes. It also stars Tom Bateman (Florizel), Jessie Buckley (Perdita), Hadley Fraser (Polixenes) and Miranda Raison (Hermione).
