Well, really…the buzz has been out there for a while now. It’s all about what critics believe to be the “must see” shows this season on Broadway.
But it becomes official when the nominations pour in. The first out of the gate is the Outer Critics Circle. Here are that organization’s nominations for the best on Broadway. The Outer Critics Circle comprises select New York theater writers and commentators who work for media not based in New York City.A few of the categories include Broadway and Off-Broadway.
Nominations are led by “Something Rotten!” which has 12 nominations. That’s followed by “On the Twentieth Century” which has 9 nominations, “An American in Paris” which has 8 nominations and then “Wolf Hall” which has seven nominations.
Other multiple nominees are: “It Shoulda Been You” (6), “The Audience” (6), “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” (6), “Hamilton” 5, “The Elephant Man” (5), “The King and I” (5), “The Visit” (5), “On The Town” (4), “You Can’t Take It With You” (4), “The Heidi Chronicles” (3) and “The Last Ship” (3).
