Orlando Shakespeare opens ‘A Christmas Carol’

By PAM HARBAUGH

Orlando Shakespeare Theatre opens its own theatrical version of “A Christmas Carol” this evening,

OST’s artistic director, the very talented Jim Helsinger, has written the adaptation from the Charles Dickens story. Director Michael Carlton has worked with a cast of nine actors to bring to life this wonderful story of redemption.

Leading the strong cast are Steven Patterson as Scrooge, Paul Bernardo as Marley, Anne Hering as Mrs. Cratchit and Steven Lane as Bob Cratchit.

An informal Q & A with cast and design team will be held after the 2 p.m. Dec. 14 performance. There is no performance Christmas Day. That would be, after all, a major “Bah Humbug!”

SIDE O’ GRITS: “A Christmas Carol” runs through Dec. 28 at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 East Rollins Street, Orlando. It performs 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
