They’re here — auditions for Melbourne Civic Theatre’s production of “Our Leading Lady” 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Dec. 7 and 8.

The play is written by Charles Busch, known for his high-camp work both as a playwright and onstage, especially as a female impersonator. As one would expect, there is a high in the “quirky quotient” with this comedy. Indeed, it concerns actress Laura Keene who was performing at Ford’s Theater the night Lincoln was killed. Director Peg Girard says it’s like the Civil War meets “Noises Off.”

Needed are five females 20 to 55 years. One must be an African American actress; and four males 20 to 70 years. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

The show is scheduled to run Jan. 23 to March 1, 2015. Auditions 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday, (Dec. 7 and 8) at Melbourne Civic Theatre, 817 E. Strawbridge Ave., Melbourne. Call 321-723-6935 or visit www.mymct.org.
