Auditions: ‘God of Carnage’ at the Henegar

By PAM HARBAUGH

Put your holiday spirit on the back burner, because the Henegar Center for the Arts will be holding auditions 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday (Dec. 14 and 15) for “God of Carnage.”

This is one very tight dark comedy. Like she did in “Art,” playwright Yasmin Reza throws denizens of politically correct society into a confrontational setting, bringing out baser human instincts. Like “Art,” “God of Carnage” is filled with wry humor and right-on insight.

This is brave stuff. Director Anthony Mowad wants all you actors intending to audition to dig deep, make yourself vulnerable and have fun with the characters.

Auditions consist of cold readings. Get there 30 minutes ahead of time to fill out paperwork. Needed are two women and two men, late 20s to early 40s.

The show is scheduled to run Feb. 20 to March 1 in the Henegar’s Upstairs theater. The Henegar is at 625 E. New Haven Ave., Melbourne. Call 321-723-8698 or visit www.henegar.org. You can also contact Mr. Mowad, by calling 321-591-4004 or emailing him at acmowad@gmail.com.
