SOUTHERN SIRENS opens tonight and runs through May 13 at Titusville Playhouse’s Second Stage. It revolves around a group of ladies who meet yearly for a beach getaway. MASS IN TIME OF WAR by Joseph Haydn will be performed 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the King Center by the Brevard Community Chorus and select members of the Brevard Symphony Orchestra. The program is led by conductor Dr. Robert E. Lamb and features professional soloists Julia Foster Rottmayer (soprano), Eliza Dopira (mezzo-soprano), Jeremy Hunt (tenor) and Sean Christopher Stork (bass.) A CELEBRATION OF BRIAN DOWDALL an acclaimed visionary artist who lived in Cocoa Beach, is planned for 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway, Cocoa Beach. The gallery will offer food, drink and art to help friends and admirers celebrate the late artist’s life. His many friends and admirers in Florida will gather at the Studios of Cocoa Beach from 5 to 8 p.m. today to celebrate his creative life and wish him a fond farewell. FIRST FRIDAY takes place this evening throughout the Eau Gallie Arts District. You can stroll the area, pop into galleries and meet artists, listen to music and more. Of particular interest are a couple of concerts this evening. “SPACE JAMS,” presented by the Boot’s on the Ground Theater from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Derek Gores Gallery. This event features original music and soundscapes by Stewart Coleman of Alchemy Twins. Donations will be collected to help the Foosaner Art Museum raise $3,000 in scholarship funds for summer classes. BEEBS AND HER ARTSHOW BENEFITING THE VERDI ECO SCHOOL begins 8 p.m. tonight at the Standard Collective in EGAD. In addition to an art show (which is open for free from 3 to 7 p.m. today), it features live music by Beebs and Her Money makers, Niko Is, Kristen Warren and Brandon Wilson. Admission is $35 and the show is close to being sold out.

VERDI EcoSCHOOL will hold a Kentucky Derby Fundraiser 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 4 in the Community Garden in the Eau Gallie Arts District. It will feature live betting, silent auctions and mint juleps. Artists from around the country have created unique horse game pieces for the fundraiser. The Verdi EcoSchool is a non-profit urban farm school for hands-on learning. Admission is $10. A CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK opens tonight and runs through the May at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. A reception will be held 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. this evening during First Friday. The show invited gallery member artists to “find a small area of a past work of art and create a new piece using, according to the artist, the most exciting, most interesting, or most neglected section of their art.” The Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is at 1470 Highland Ave., Melbourne.
