Culture vultures have their own special way of noting the return of autumn — big musicals stirring to life on multiple stages in the area. Another sign is the reopening of Heidi’s Jazz Club after the owners take their yearly vacation to Austria where they pick up even more delectable recipes for the Heidelberg Restaurant.

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT opens tonight at the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse. Stars Jason Crase as Joseph and Rick Roach as the Elvis-inspired Pharoah return to CVP for this revival. The show runs through Oct. 9. Tickets are $19 to $30. LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS opens tonight at Titusville Playhouse. It stars Steven Heron as hapless Seymour, the nurturer of blood-thirsty plants, and Leyla Corbett as Audrey. HEIDI’S JAZZ CLUB re-opens tonight with performances by The Ron Teixeira Trio and rising star Veronica Swift. Ms. Swift was a second place finalist in the 2015 Thelonious Monk Vocal Jazz Competition. She’s performed at big name places including the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola in New York City and has appeared with big names including Herbie Hancock, George Benson, Wayne Shorter, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Patti Austin and many more. She will be accompanied on saxophone by Jeff Rupert, a professor at UCF. Show begins 8:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday. $20 cover charge. Exhibits

GRACE LEAL will exhibit works in the Frits Van Eeden Gallery in the Florida Institute of Technology’s Renee Foosaner Education Center. Ms. Leal is a naive of Havana, Cuba and moved to the U.S. as a child. She is fascinated by a wide range of subjects, especially migration, acculturation and the stories cultures carry. This exhibition explores the artists bent toward using found objects to create scultpures and assemblages. The Foosaner Education Center is at 1520 Highland Ave. in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, as well as from 5:30-7:30 p.m. the first Friday of each month. Admission is free. The artist’s reception is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. A Gallery Talk will be held starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. HARAK RUBIO: Symbols and Guardians runs through Oct. 15 at Florida Institute of Technology’s Foosaner Art Museum. It comprises 32 large scale abstract paintings and 14 sculptures. Mr. Rubio, a Puerto Rican native and Melbourne resident who has won numerous awards and honors. His work is seen widely throughout Latin America. He has worked in advertising and video serving as designer, art director, prop master and more at numerous big name companies such as Universal Pictures, Miramax Films, Trivisión Spain, Animal Planet, USA Network, ABC and CBS networks, Quentin Tarantino Productions and MTV.
