It’s here. The theater season is heating up along with the weather, so do some stretches, some vocal warm ups, articulation exercises and get with the auditions.

These are listed in chronological order.

“EXTREMITIES” 7 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8 (Monday and Tuesday) at Surfside Playhouse, 301 Ramp Road, Cocoa Beach. This is a strong, provocative drama containing strong language, violence and adult themes. “MAURITIUS” 7 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8 (Monday and Tuesday) at Melbourne Civic Theatre, 817 E. Strawbridge Ave., Melbourne. This is a contemporary thriller by Theresa Rebeck. The show performs Sept. 30 to Nov. 6. Call 321-723-6935, click here or click onto their ad.

“JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT”
Aug. 13 and 14 at Cocoa Village Playhouse, 300 Brevard Ave., Cocoa. This is a musical, but you do not have to have stage experience to audition and be considered. However, you will be expected to sing and follow some simple stage movement, so dress comfortable with good shoes. Limit vocal auditions to a maximum of one minute or 16 bars of music. Pianist provided, so bring sheet music if you have it. If not, bring CD, flash drive or MP3 WITHOUT pre-recorded vocals. No cassette tapes nor iPods. If you don’t have those items, you’ll be asked to sing “Happy Birthday” with the pianist. No acapella vocals. The show performs Sept. 23 to Oct. 9. “WITCHES OF EASTWICK” 7 p.m. Aug. 21 and 22 at the Henegar Center, 625 E. New Haven Ave., Melbourne. This is a musical, so you will be expected to sing, dance and do some cold readings from the script. Wear appropriate clothing, especially footwear for the choreographed portion of the audition. Prepare at least 16 bars of a song and provide sheet music. Pianist will be available. You may bring a CD without prerecorded vocals. No acapella auditions. Suggested to bring a photo and resume of onstage experience. Also bring list of potential time conflicts. The show performs Oct. 14 to 30. Call 321-723-8698, click here or click onto their ad.
