BREVARD CHAMBER MUSIC SEMINAR

By PAM HARBAUGH

Chamber music will be performed Friday and Saturday at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic courtesy of the 2016 BREVARD CHAMBER MUSIC SEMINAR which will bring 36 of Brevard’s best music students into an three days of intensive workshops and master classes.

The public will have a chance to hear a concert performed by the great teachers and then to hear a recital by these promising young musicians.

The seminar is an outreach of MELBOURNE CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY — a real gem of a cultural organization. (In fact, I love this bright shiny object so much I agreed to join its board.) The organization brings to Brevard world famous chamber music groups which usually play in huge halls with lofty ticket prices. They perform here in an intimate setting and very reasonable ticket prices. Frequently, MCMS sends those groups to area schools where they conduct workshops for Brevard’s many talented young musicians.

(This would not be possible without the generosity of business leaders such as Jim Ridenour of the Residence Inn Melbourne & Courtyard by Marriott West Melbourne; and Scott Apelgren of The Horn Section.)

In 2010, MCMS launched the annual Brevard Chamber Music Seminar, a university-level experience bringing great teachers together with students. It culminates with some most engaging concerts.

This year’s Faculty Concert begins 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 27 and the student recital begins 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28. The public is invited. Admission is free, but donations happily accepted. Eastminster Presbyterian Church is at 106 N. Riverside Drive in Indialantic, Fl. Call 321-723-8371 or visit MelbourneChamberMusicSociety.com.
