Get! Out!

GET OUT! March 4 to 6

By PAM HARBAUGH

Two new musicals open this weekend — “Nice Work If You Can Get It” at the Henegar Center and “The Who’s Tommy” at Surfside Playhouse. Here’s some quick info on both of them:

NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT at the Henegar marks the Florida premiere of this new George Gershwin musical. Yes, I know that sounds odd, but the book is written by prolific and talented Joe DiPietro, who still lives and breathes. Like another musical, “Crazy for You,” producers put into a new musical George Gershwin’s fabulous and highly recognizable tunes written decades ago. The story is set during prohibition and concerns bootleggers and romance. It runs through March 20 at the Henegar Center, 625 E. New Haven Ave., Melbourne. Tickets are $16 to $26. Call 321-723-8698, visit Henegar.org or just click onto the ad on the right side of this page. Read more by clicking here.
