HENSCHEL QUARTET Comes to Brevard

By PAM HARBAUGH

The award winning Henschel Quartet performs Friday evening courtesy of the Melbourne Chamber Music Society.

The concert begins 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Indialantic.

The Henschel, which is a string quartet, has won prizes at competitions all over the world, including those held in Banff, Salzburg and Osaka. They have performed in Brussels for Germany’s Cultural Ambassador, at the Vatican for Pope Benedict XVI, at the Royal Palace in Madrid and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.

And, when the Juilliard String Quartet had to bow out of a live BBC broadcast, the Henschel was the group asked to “fill in.”

The program for Friday’s concert feeds right into their celebrated strength: Haydn-Quartet in G Major, Op. 76 #1, Schulhoff-Five Pieces for String Quartet and Beethoven-Quartet in C Major, Op. 59 #3.

The performance begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 2030 N. A1A, Indialantic. Tickets are $35 general and $10 for students. Call 321-213-5100 or visit MelbourneChamberMusicSociety.com.
