Peter and the Wolf & Friends

By PAM HARBAUGH

A new organization, Chamber Music with Friends, makes its friendly debut Saturday evening with its multi-media concert, “Peter and the Wolf & Friends.” Involved will be musicians, puppeteers, set designers, actors, video and more to tell composer Sergei Prokofiev’s classic tale of a little boy, Peter whose peaceful afternoon turns dramatic at the arrival of a hungry wolf.

The show, produced in partnership with the Made in Rockledge Theater (miR), also includes the story of an inventor and Richard Strauss’ very playful “Till Eulespiegel Einmal Anders.”

You probably know the Prokofiev work…to familiarize yourself with Strauss’ thoroughly delightful work, click here.

It sounds like a charming way to introduce young people to chamber music.

Chamber Music with Friends was founded this year by Jessica Pollack, a graduate of Satellite High School. The goal is a collaborative one — to bring together various artists and arts groups within the area.

“Peter and the Wolf & Friends” is the first such effort. It begins 7:30 p.m. Saturday at miR Theatre, 214 Barton Blvd., Rockledge. Tickets are at the door or through ChamberMusicWithFriends.com. For more information about the concert, call 321-412-7913. To contact miR Theater, call 321-890-5110 or visit madeinrockledge.org.
