Prima Trio performs Tuesday for Melbourne Chamber Music Society

Impress your beloved, one-up your neighbors or surprise your own family by heading to the one-night only performance of the award winning and youthfully vigorous Prima Trio when it performs Tuesday in Indialantic.

The piano trio comes to the area courtesy of the Melbourne Chamber Music Society, one of the most sophisticated cultural organizations in Brevard.

Formed in 2004 by students of Ohio’s renowned Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, the Prima Trio is making big splashes in competitions around the world.

Just look at the impressive credits for the trio’s individual members.

Pianist Anastasia Dedik first studied piano in her native St. Petersburg, Russia and later at the Juilliard School (where she currently teaches); her many performances include Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

Armenian born clarinetist Boris Allakhverdyan is one of the two principal clarinetists of The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and previously with the Kansas City Symphony; his world-wide concerts include those with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Lucerne Festival Academy and the Yale School of Music’s Norfolk Chamber Music Festival.

Violinist Gulia Gurevich was 14 years old when she had her solo debut with the Uzbekistan National Symphony Orchestra; performances also include those with the Boston Symphony, Tanglewood, Spoleto, Carnegie Hall and with the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.

The trio won the grand prize and Gold Medal at the 2007 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. They have performed at Italy’s Emilia Romagna Festival, the University of Notre Dame, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C.. They also appeared at Germany’s “Junge Elite” series.

For Tuesday’s concert, the Prima Trio will perform Schumann’s “Fairytales,” Piazzolla’s “Otono Porteno,” Bartok’s “Contrasts,” Milhaud’s “Suite” and Glick’s “The Klezmer’s Wedding.”
